Most Valuable Player

Khalid Abdullah

School:James Madison

Position: RB

Year: Senior

James Madison is currently slated to play in the FCS National Championship, and none has been more instrumental in their run than Khalid Abdullah. Abdullah has piled up 1,708 yards and 20 touchdowns. The JMU Offensive Line certainly deserves their praise, but Abdullah has been absolutely dominating.

Defensive Player of the Year

Karter Schult

School: Northern Iowa

Position: DE

Year: Senior

No defensive player has been more disruptive than Schult. He lives in the backfield, terrorizing both signal callers and ball carriers. Karter racked up video game stats for a DE, including an FCS best 17 sacks and 24 tackles for a loss.

Kurt Warner Award (Top QB)

Gage Gabrud

School: Eastern Washington

Position: QB

Year: Sophomore

Gabrud has consistently shredded defenses this year. In his first year as a starter, he compiled 5,160 passing yards (lead FCS) and 48 touchdowns.

David Johnson Award (Top RB)

Chase Edmonds

School: Fordham

Position: RB

Year: Junior

Chase Edmonds has been electric all season. He has excellent burst and vision, and has shown the durability to be a bellcow. He finished the season with an FCS best of 1,799 rushing yards. He has a nose for the endzone with 19 touchdowns.

Cooper Kupp Award (Top WR)

Cooper Kupp

School: Eastern Washington

Position: WR

Year: Senior

Cooper has been the best receiver in the FCS the last few years, and didn’t disappoint this year. He has 1,700 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns, both stats lead the FCS.

Julius Thomas Award (Top TE)

Dallas Goedert

School: South Dakota State

Position: TE

Year: Junior

Dallas is a matchup nightmare for opposing defenses. His size (6’5-230 lbs) and athleticism make him a safe bet to be drafted next year. But, his hands and ability to create separation are exceptional. He tallied an unbelievable 1,293 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns.


Joe Haeg Award (Top OL)

Julie’n Davenport

School: Bucknell

Position: OT

Year: Senior

Davenport has been consistently dominating this season, and very rarely has given up pressure or sacks. He has NFL Size (6’7-315 lbs.) and most likely will hear His name called at the draft.

Robert Mathis Award (Top DL)

Derek Rivers

School: Youngstown State

Position: DE

Year: Senior

Derek Rivers is big, twitched up pass rusher that can really bend the edge. He has been a key cog in a Youngstown State team that will meet James Madison in the National Championship. With Karter Schult taking home The DPOY, Rivers 13 sacks make him the easy choice here.

Paul Worrilow Award (Top LB)

Brett Taylor

School: Western Illinois

Position: LB

Year: Junior

Taylor has been outstanding this season for Western Illinois. He is a sure tackler with a motor that constantly runs hot. His 94 solo stops lead the FCS.

Josh Norman Award (Top DB)

Dante’ Blackmon

School: Kennesaw State

Position: CB

Year: Senior

Blackmon has been one of the closest things in the FCS to a lockdown corner. He has good size (5’11-185 lbs) and fantastic ball skills (6 interceptions). He also is dangerous with the ball in his hands, and took one back for a pick 6.

Taiwan Jones Award (Top Returner)

Khalid Thomas

School: Alabama State

Position: RB

Thomas been outstanding as a punt returner this season. He has 366 yards total and an average of 17.4 per return (leads FCS).
